Leah Burn

Evaluator – Epidemiologist

Leah has a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Global Epidemiology from Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. She has completed advanced training in data analytics, infectious disease modeling, and research from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Leah worked with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for about six years. She was a Global Epidemiologist with CDC’s Global HIV/AIDS Program in Zambia and served as Regional Epidemiologist and Team Lead with CDC’s Global Disease Detection and Response Program in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. She has also implemented programs through CDC funded grants domestically, on infection control and integrated opioid treatment & care in communities in New Jersey.

Leah has worked as a Pharmacoepidemiologist in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry for the past several years—with Sanofi and Celgene, as well as the CRO P95—consulting for Pfizer on vaccine research & development. Her work has been published and presented internationally.

Swimming

Why did you decide to do the work you are doing?
I enjoy science & utilizing epidemiology as a tool to identify needs and priorities, address research questions, build capacity, and ultimately improve the health and lives of communities. It’s meaningful work, and I enjoy the collaboration that drives us to get there.

Favorite smell?
Jasmine, cardamom & oud.
