We do not know an individual or organization that has not been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. To find out how the pandemic impacted coalitions that do prevention work, we surveyed coalitions with which we work in the fall of 2020.  To provide context to the numbers, we talked with several coalition leaders about changes they made due to the pandemic.

We found coalitions continued to work successfully with their communities, by adapting during this extraordinary time.  COVID-19 had the greatest impact on services provided, staff development, coalition meetings, and technology use.  Compensation, funding, and staffing were least likely to be affected. We discovered coalitions that successfully pivoted

  • Providing virtual services based on community need
  • Engaging community and school leaders to change policy
  • Creating their own PSAs and streaming them into people’s homes

We share this work on our website so that we can all learn from each other. We look forward to continuing the conversation with you.
